Erin, white spots?

Not like psorisis white spots, but like the pigmentation of your skin has disappeared in that area?

I have had  that occur on my arms the last few years...I should have asked the dermatologist last week when I saw him. I thought possibly they are spots that got sunburned or something and buned/used up (?) the melanonin in that area. I also have a spot on one arm that isn't completely whte but isn't my skin color either. It wasn't there until my mid-20's and is pretty big.

I am doing better - my fingers are more mobile though they hurt easily with use. Though they are better, the rest of me is starting to hurt with use - feet and knees are the worst. I don't like it (duhhhhh...really? Who does?)  Espec. since we are supposed to take our 2 week camping trip in less than 2 weeks. At this point, i don't want to beg dr. to start Enbrel early in case I'm not ready to do the shots on my own by the time we leave AND in fear of finding out I'm allergic to it while camping. So, at this rate I guess there will be no hiking or fun for me this year. I may have to settle at guarding camp while kids and hubby are out and about.   I'll pack a few books or magazines.

Sorry, I'll stop there before this turns in to a 2 page drag fest...that stuff needs to go in the "pity party" thread - ha ha! The dermatologist did give me Rogaine to try out for my thinning scalp. I hope it works! It is so funny - I have long, frizzy, messy hair...it's everywhere! And yet, the top front of my scalp is thinning so bad that when the light is on it, I have patches of scalp! I feel like I'm turning into a really bad version of Gallaghar's hair!!!

How are you doing this evening? Feeling any better than you have been this last week?

 Had my Arthroscopy this am. Ha! Don't ever let anybody tell you "this won't hurt"

Guess he really did not fib, didn't hurt while he was doing it.

Sent me home on Demerol 50 mg, so that tells you right there, HE KNEW.

Anyway, it is over and done, never to be repeated. lol

Had a spinal block, so legs are still a little "funny feelin", but this will pass.

yikes!!! maybe invest in a wig! no..for real! i say the heck with real hair. if i had the $$ i would go get a short black blunt bob wig with straight cut bangs...kinda like Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction!

Autoimmune diseases often herald other ones like this. Scleroderma not only has white spots, but has tight skin, digestive issues, acid reflux, nausea, gassiness, plus the joint inflammation and pain. In my friend's case, also muscle twitching & seizures.

Another suggestion might be Vitiligo? My Mom was always a pale face and yet she has white spots on her arms and back that are even whiter than her normal colour. Some are the size of freckles and some are the size of dimes and nickles. She has had these since she was in her late 30's. She hasn't gained anymore than these. She also has Hypothyroidism. Her Dr. said the spots were from an autoimmune disease called Vilitiligo. Her hair did turn white earlier than normal, so she had to dye it, of course.

Michael Jackson supposedly had this disease although he had a different type. I think I read there are 3 or 4 types.

Hopefully you will be feeling better with the RA. I've met with a BAD flare, so my Rheumy has
doubled my Prednisone. I will be feeling great for about 4 months anyways. A nice rest, then back to the grind. : { Take care! Glad that you's still have your giggles. :D
