Cimzia - feel I have my life back!

New to forum, but I just felt that I wanted to share my recent experience. I have had RA for 25 years being diagnosed when I was just 20. I have just started using Cimzia and the day after I had my first injection I felt immediate relief from the crippling pain I have been experiencing recently. I was very reluctant to begin treatment because of the long list of possible side effects but I HAD to do something. I also appreciate that it is early days (I have just had my third injection) but I have almost forgotten that I have RA. I am working full-time, bombing up and down every set of stairs I can find (just because I can), sleeping without being woken from pain, living again! I wanted to share this in case anybody feels reluctant or scared to try a drug. I still have in the back of my mind that it is probably doing something awful to me at the same time, but it is helping me live my life to the max right now, and sometimes 'right now' matters enough to put the 'what ifs' to the bottom of the pile.

Hi, Thanks for this I know it will help a lot of people Me included as I was offered Cimzia last year but said No after having side effects from Humira I wasn't brave enough to try another , but as I have a Rheumy appointment in July and I have gone downhill I know he will again suggest I give it a try.
So Glad it is working for you hope it continues to do so, Please keep us updated on any news good or bad.

I used Cimzia and did great with it for about a year.... gave me my life back too..... stopped working for me after a year. But I am like you I have to try whatever is available for me. I cant give up I love to live and live to the fullest. I pray that one day they find something that will work great for us all....all of the time. Until then we will keep on trying what is available and thanking God that there is something else out there..

I experienced this with enbrel back in 99. I can totally relate to your feeling of it being worth it to have some quality of life and I agree with you whole heartedly. It is an amazing experience to go from not being able to walk more than a few feet to bounding up stairs in less than a week but hat was what it was like for me. I hope that it works for you for many many years. Enbrel worked for me for 14 :)
