My sed rate was in the 140s when they finally diagnosed me. I could barely move, but didn't know why... only wanted to sleep or sit and couldn't even turn over in bed. I have polymyalgia. Also had all the symptoms for giant cell arteritis. They immediately put me on 60ml of prednisone... never heard of such a high dose... Within 12 hours... pain was completely gone and I could do anything, but was of course woozy from the steroids. A week later they did a biopsy for the GCA that came out negative, but it was already mostly resolved before the steroids. I am confused by how high my sed rate is... it seems so unusual and scary too. I am now at 30 and have reduced the steroids to 40ml... will continue reducing by 5 ml weekly until symptoms reappear. They say it may take 2=6 years to resolve. How sick was I? I didn't feel like going on, I felt so bad, but didn't really know anything was terribly wrong with me. Would appreciate other experiences. Anyone else have a sed rate that high or meds that high????
