Could I have RA?

I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis but I'm wondering if it could actually be RA. I had the typical blood tests done and they all came back negative for RA. However, I have all the symptoms of RA including pain and swelling in all of my joints. Stiffness in the morning and after resting and fatigue. However, I also suffer from fibromyalgia so some of my pain and fatigue is due to that and it's difficult to differentiate between the two. I know that early diagnoses is crucial to prevent permanent joint damage. I'd like to know if there are others out there that have had negative test results but actually have RA.

If I remember correctly, around 20% of people with RA (including me) are sero-negative as Chartreux mentioned. If this doctor won't do more tests, try another. I got very lucky and found a good rheumatologist the first time, but a lot of RA patients have had to try several rheumys before they found one that would work with them.

Thanks Chartreux, Carole_D, and Warwoop for your help. I had an appt with my ortho today and he is referring me to a rheumatologist so that I can get a definitive diagnosis. Hopefully I'll know something soon and can get on the proper treatment plan.
