Got diagnosed with RA two days back.

Hey there. I'm 22, female, and just got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis two days back, after a bunch of necessary tests. My levels came out pretty high (RF, Anti CCP etc), and I've been in pain for more than 8 months now. The visible signs were my fingers being swollen and my finger joints looking a bit weird. My feet always hurt, no matter the time of day.

What's worse? I feel like I have the most useless Rheumy possible. I've been so frustrated, scared, confused and angry, and the guy hasn't even explained to me anything. He just simply handed me a brochure which describes this auto-immune disease after my final test results got back and i heard one full sentence coming out of his mouth saying I have this 'for sure'.

I've come here to get some sort of support and would really like to know how RA will affect my life from now on.

Hi Welcome, Sorry to hear that you are an RA member
First thing you need to do is Find a New Rheumy, you will have a Life Long Partnership with him/her so you need to at the least Trust them and at best be very comfortable.
next contact your local Arthritis Foundation they can be a good source of contacts
are you on any medication ?
it is scary now and you need to have health care people you can ask what effects You
you need to assess your lifestyle are you in the right profession that you can keep working for the longer time
is your home suitable or are you in an apartment with trillions of stairs
the arthritis foundation can help you with instruments that make life easier like jar openers or shoe putter oners
personally I have found with my feet as I also have diabetes is I buy Diabetes Socks and Padded ones they are great as the soles are spongy and I wear sneakers etc its been years since ive been able to wear "normal" shoes.
Hope this gives you a bit of a start I don't want to Bomb your Brain with too much

ZeeAly I agree with BadDay. You will have a life long partnership with your RA doctor and you need to find a new one. There is help available in many forms so don't feel discouraged because of your doctor. Hang in there life with RA can be challenging but you can have a good life with the right meds.
