what are negative effects of stopping enbrel

Hi, I was on Enbrel for 12 years and I too was off of it a few times due to colds etc. What I noticed was that as the years went by when I would stop taking it I would get sore and achy faster. In the beginning I could go off of it for weeks and not have an issue. Eventually though if I missed my dose I started to feel it much sooner. I think that as your immune system adapts to Enbrel this may be part of this process. It also would take longer for it to alleviate my RA as well.

Eventually Enbrel stopped working for me altogether and I developed some interesting side effects that my Doctor was not comfortable with me taking it any longer. By that time it was still working but not nearly as effectively and I was in a major flare up.

I look back on those years now and I am so grateful I had them. I am taking Orencia and Methotrexate now and while they certainly help they are nowhere near the relief I experienced those years on Enbrel. I take none of this for granted now as a result and I am grateful for every day of relief I have.
