I bought an automatic jar opener to open jars. I avoid kneeling but if I have to I will place a thick pillow on the floor to kneel on.
I avoid stairs if I can. If I do climb them I go very slowly and use the rail for support.

I rest joints when they are inflammed. I do bracing as needed but I do 12 hrs on and 12hrs off so they don't get locked up.
Ask your doctor about the pain killers you can use. Too much Advil will damage your stomach and liver.

Hi and welcome. I have been taking methotrexate for about a year and a half now and while it took a while to start working for me it does certainly help. I take it in conjunction with orencia and both together do a reasonable job for me.
Be careful using ibuprofen. It can be very hard on your stomach and can cause ulcers down the road. Try to take it with food to lessen the negative affects to your stomach.
As far as pain and stiffness go I find that a hot bath and heating pads help me a lot especially in the morning. I wake up early every day to soak and let my joints wake up and that helps.
Pain meds half as well and if you are hurting make sure to ask the doc about them and if they are hesitant talk to them about a pain management clinic. It is easier on your stomach to use here than NSAIDs as well.
You might consider acupuncture as a treatment also. I have recently begun treatment and have seen an improvement in my pain levels dropping after just a few visits.
I found that sugar and corn are two things in my diet that exacerbate flare ups. Everyone is different in this regard but you might consider some research on auto immune disease and the gut as well. This has really helped especially staying away from corn.
I hope that you feel better soon and that the mtx works for you. If you find that the pills are too hard on your stomach you can also inject mtx and this side effect will be avoided.
If you feel very fatigued after taking it talk to your doctor about folic acid supplements. I take these and they help a great deal with the fatigue I was having as a result of the mtx.
