Hi,
I have had JRA for 33yrs and am now 41yrs, dx at 8yrs and I would love to offer you some hope and support.
RA is renowned for being suppressed in over 85% of pregnancies. It has some amazing connection to the mother's body feeding off the baby's natural steroids.
I have had six babies and every one of them my JRA went, literally disappeared. This is not extraordinary or unusual either.
You will probably be advised to consider a high risk pregnancy team, although I only did for Baby no6.
Many expectant ladies can come off their meds throughout pregnancy- the real fear is the possible flare after the birth, so some Drs advise to begin at 28wks or so but I didn't do this.
It really depends on history and other factors but if the RA is dampened down in the pregnancy then beginning meds may not be what you want to do.
I really hope you are well supported and please feel free to contact me if you would like more advice.
