So, those of you with RA, does your joint pain move around?? My joint pain seems to do that. It's like for a while my hands will hurt, then my knees or shoulders, then my feet. There is usually a low level of pain in most of my joints but usually one or two is more dominant. Right now, it's my hands and feet. Back a few weeks ago, it was my shoulders. Is this typical?? I am pretty new to the firm diagnosis but this has been my experience for years. I also have Sjogrens. I am going to see a new rheumy in a few weeks. I also want to get a little pool to swim in this year, even if it's just an above ground pool and small. The water will really help.

My pains will increase in places then shift to a new place later.
When I told my rheumatologist he said that was caused by fibromyalgia.

I want a small pool or jacuzzi myself. I'll have to have it covered with a roof to avoid sunshine though. I'm photosensitive.

Interesting. I keep telling my docs I think I have fibro and they say maybe but my main problems are AI.... LOL.... I thought fibro was more of a muscle ache rather than a joint ache. Mine seems like joints. Either way, pain stinks.

I love to find a shady place to swim!!! So nice in the summer! We have also used umbrellas to get shade. I also wear an SPF hat, sunscreen, SPF clothes. Armed with all that, I get under an umbrella and enjoy the beach or go for a swim. It really helps.

I call it the "Pain du Jour" ! Never know where I will be hurting when I get up in the morning! Go to bed hurting in one place to wake up to something else. Also have been told I too, have fibro, for which I have received lyrica for 18 months. Finally after much insistence got the MRi last month-- 3 bulging cervical disks. We seem to each manifest the Rheumatoid disease differently experience so much pain. Feel truly blessed to go to local YMCA pool & Jacuzzi 2x a week , just to walk in the pool! It really helps! Hope to swim someday. I am grateful that this support is available, thanks for sharing.

I don't have RA but enteritis arthritis and that is exactly what happened to me. My joint pain would flare randomly and subside randomly. Mostly it affected my hands and wrists, but it would switch from left to right, or bother the thumb and then the pinky. It was weird.

Yes, montereykate, swimming really works well for us.

Sounds like all this stuff is very unpredictable especially when it's mixed with fibromyalgia or other conditions like colitis. They checked me over a few times to make sure I didn't have crohn's or UC but they swore I didn't. The rheumatologist even sent me back to the GI doc. LOL.... I am glad they felt positive enough with their diagnosis not to scope me again!!! I do think my colitis was somehow related to my auto immune stuff though. It all happened about the same time.
