I tested positive for rheumotoid arthritis. I have very bad arthritis anyway. The rheumotologist whom I saw said it was a false positive because my hands look okay.

I have such overall pain that I am not so sure. My hands are very good and I worked a great deal with them but the rest of my body has an overall ache and horror.

Don't really get it.

Joan, find another doctor that will treat you better, you deserve care and your not getting it from your current doctor, so get a copy of your tests results and head off for a second opinion with a better more compassionate doctor! We all deserve better quality of care! You can't just let this go, RA needs to be treated so you can get remission, the longer it's delayed the more joint damage you could be getting...push for a second opinion, you owe it to yourself...

thank you very much. I do know of a good ortho here in town and I will try to find out which rumi doctor he works with. It is almost a miracle to find a good doctor. They seem to want you in and out in a second.

They do this to both young and middle aged people in the area.

Was the test a positive RA factor? I don't know how some of these Doctor's can make these diagnosis. I have been positive RA since I was first properly diagnosed but my hands were not crippled up yet just inflamed, stiff and hurt badly all the time.

In looking for a good Doctor don't limit yourself to seeking out referrals from only Doctors who treat our disease. I asked my Gastro because he really impressed me and it was him that referred me to my current Rheumy and she is so thorough and methodical I am really impressed with her. He was spot on with her and I let him know when I saw him last. Good Doctors know other good Doctors has been my experience.

I had the same Rheumy for over 20 years and she was a great Doc until she decided to retire. It was a scary time to be honest but I do believe that all things happen for a reason because my experience so far with my new Doctor has been excellent.

best advice go to another Doctor and see a Rheumatologist, my hands were quite fine for a few years so that alone is No indication,
