I don't know if this is RA related or not but for the last few night I literally wake up and my hands are hurting and throbbing so bad. We have a cold front coming in on Saturday night but I'm so confused about this hand pain at night I'm good during the day, more tired laterly than usual, but that's all...
Could use some help on this...Thank you.

So sorry you are dealing with more pain and lack of sleep. Do you have any tingling or numbness along with pain? My first thought is carpal tunnel, but if it is the joints, it may be a flare. Any swelling or redness? I hope it gets better soon and you can enjoy the weekend.

Hi Chartreux.

I experience this sometimes too. Even though it can be very painful and stiff for me it goes away completely quite quickly.
I have fibromyalgia as well as RA and I believe this pain is related to Fibro not RA.

My pain in my hands I haven't ever described as throbbing but it is always the worst at night.

I end up taking as hot a bath as I can stand and use epsom salts and usually I get some relief from this. Also, a heating pad helps as well. My wife used to be a manicurist so she has some mitts that are heated and I use them on occasion also.

I hope you find some relief.

Well I think the throbbing comes from the carpel tunnel, but it's stiff and cramping as well at night, Thanks for the heated mitts info now that's something to look into. I do have raynuad's and lately my husband complains of cold hands yet his don't hold a candle as to how cold mine get! I've had people come up to me saying how they like my nail polish, when I'm not wearing any nail polish my nails turn red to blue to purple, weird but true...

WOW Chartreux that is crazy!

I had carpel tunnel many years ago before all this RA business started and that did wake me up at night with throbbing and numbness as well as cramping my hands severely. I had the surgery for both and it was a huge relief. In fact it has been about 25 years since I had them and they still are pretty good. I haven't had any issues with cramping but now and then they are numb when I wake up but not all that often.

Crazy but true, I've had many people come up to me to ask me if I'm dead as thats about how cold my hands get, it really shocks them...even if I tell them, please you don't want to shake my hand and they turn around and say "darn Your Cold" and I say I tried to warn you...So I have people that can verify this anytime...In the Summer time I can go outside to get warmed up, but then the air conditioning hurts...Actually we got a small spa last year which I love in the summer and it helps my hands and feet stay warm.
