My rheumatologist appt

I'm not even sure if I'm posting in the right forum, as I'm still trying to get some - any - diagnosis and treatment plan underway! I did finally see a rheumatologist, but I'm not sure what to make of this guy.
He did a quick exam, diagnosed me with hip bursitis, ordered bloodwork (CRP, ANA by IFA, CCP, and RF), and told me to come back the next day for an injection in my hip. Other than that, he didn't say what he was looking to rule out or give me any clue as to what this might be (the bursitis is just one of my symptoms). He told me we'd discuss the lab results when they are available.

Is this routine for a rheumy? Are they not really supposed to tell you anything in the beginning? And are they able to diagnose bursitis without xrays or other imaging? (I declined starting injections based upon what I've read.)

On a positive note....he did prescribe Mobic and after two days, my pain is down to a level of mild discomfort!!! I can actually walk for the first time in 8 months without limping and taking baby steps lol. So, did I even need the injection afterall??

Keep us posted on those lab results. Was the injection a cortisone shot? One injection can relieve your pain for a long time by calming down the inflammation and giving your hip a chance to get back on track. With that and the pain meds, you might not need to get any scans for quite awhile.
I had a knee flare recently that was giving me fits. The xray was negative and so I got the injection. Immediate relief and pretty quickly back to my zumba.
If only my shoulder tear was that easy.
