Undifferentiated connective tissue disease

I was just diagnosed with this autoimmune disease-undifferentiated connective tissue disease. Dr prescribed prednisone and methotrexate. I am scared to take it due to possible side affects. Methotrexate is a cancer drug. Has anyone used this for this autoimmune disease?

What are your symptoms/manifestations of your UCTD? Joint pains? Which joints? Anything else?

I have been on both. Prednisone causes weight gain. Methotrexate causes a lot of symptoms ( gastric, sores, hair loss, high liver enzymes). I went off both meds.
