Hello:
First of all, very good advise from Susie, as usual.
On the news, although the health officials declares," a very low risk" to healthy people getting Covid-19, they do not consider persons with chronic diseases to be healthy. Mainly because we are on immunosuppressant medications. They particularly mentioned: any people older than 60 - persons with heart disease - patients with respiratory disease and people with Diabetes.
Myself, I'm not afraid of Covid-19 especially but I am wary of any viruses. I remember Christmas 2003, like it was yesterday. I almost died from the flu which had advanced into Pneumonia. I was so ill, every muscle ached, splitting headache, I couldn't eat, take my tests, give my shots or even get out of bed. I could barely breathe even sitting up. I coughed all day, all night plus throwing up. I was finally picked up by ambulance and admitted to the ED. Even though, the flu shot doesn't work 100%, I will remember to always get it. A Pneumonia shot is also handy to have. In that year, I had 5 diseases. Now, I have 8.
I was not on Humira at that time but I was in remission on Imuran until 2005. I tried Humira in 2005-6. Biologics have not worked for me and many others, unfortunately. I was on quite a few, some for 7 months.
They say not to be where it is crowded unless you have to. We had to visit my Mom in the Home that she is in, yesterday. I phoned ahead to make sure that there were no viruses going on there. I was not impressed that a man had planted himself behind us and started coughing many times. I quickly dug into my purse for a N95 mask. Our daughter whispered, "Don't worry Mom, he has an oxygen tank and mask." Whew!
I do not mean to scare you or anyone else. I just wanted to tell my story and add a few thoughts.
You probably have heard that two men have died in the U.S. from Covid-19. Both had at least one disease. One age 70 and one age 50. 50 is not considered older. Sorry this is long. Keep well.
