Dealing with Gaslighting

Hi, I'm wondering if/how anyone has experienced gaslighting by others? As in, them making comments or doing things that make it seem like you are lying about your pain or the existence of your RA? If so, how do you handle it?

I am so very thankful that I have never had that happen to me. I can't imagine how difficult it is to have symptoms of RA and then have others act in a way that makes you feel they don't believe you. If I were experiencing this, I would have a frank talk with them. I would also ask them what exactly they know about RA, and if they would like to learn more. It is called an "invisible illness" for a reason!

Hi. I've never joined a group or online forum. Gaslighting! Yes! Twice. By RA Drs. One said after physical exam of feet that I needed to have calluses at the local beauty college. They are RA nodes! Podiatrist refused and said get second opinion. Another refused to believe me, claiming he never received nearly 50 page history from previous RA in Memphis. I hand delivered it! He said swelling wasn't bilateral, therefore, not RA. Then labs came in with RA factor over 500. It's worse from specialists than people.
