Does this mean RA

Hello. I have been on healing well for years now mainly for UC. On Remicade for that. In March i experienced sudden joint pain and stiffness in feet, hands wrists and hips. Fatigue was crazy. Thought it was lymes. I have Ehlers Danlos so it was crazy that my hips and body felt so stiff. I am use to pain due to EDS but this has been different. Last Friday I went to a Rheumatologist at Mayo Eau Claire. He put me on prednisone. I feel at least 70% better I think. I then looked why he tried prednisone with me. I am now concerned this could be RA. what has everyone's experience been on here related to this? I have gotten through much but just feeling so tired of so much health stuff.

I have hip bursitis and a torn labrum and get cortisone injections, I'm glad you were able to that much relief so quickly.

When you saw the dr, what was his reason to rx prednisone? What milligram did he start you on & for how long?

IBDers have a slight potential to develop a second AI disease. I know many people with crohns & UC that has never developed a 2nd AI. I have read many medical articles but never have heard of someone having arthritis turn into RA. Regular arthritis is the most common one to affect millions & millions of people.

Another thought is have your gi checked your antibodies levels of Remicade? If not, ask him to do the test.

I don't know when you are to see the dr again, however, since you are concerned about RA why not ask him to run the appropriate tests & to see what turns up. That's better than doing the what if thing, that is too stressful.
