My joint health issues started mid July 2021 and pcp says recent bloodwork are pointing to rheumatoid arthritis. I dont know what to expect with all this, feeling sad and scared. I wont have RA specialist appointment until Spring 2022 to officially confirm. UC since 2004.

My pcp has prescribed steroids (start 20mg per day for 14 days and weekly taper) and 200 mg plaquenil (1x/d) about 10 days ago, of which I have not taken yet. It will be a long winter.

I am familiar with steroids but not plaquenil. Am scouring the internet about plaquenil side effects and about RA and it scares me. 🥺 😢 Says it is not good for bowel diseases.

If there are other medications, I would appreciate info.

I hope there is a cure one day for all 😇

Thank you for posting. I am having a rough day due to arthritis after an increased dose of Remicade earlier in the year. fatigue and pain. They id an RA test 3 years ago before these symptoms so he wont do another I guess. When i went on prednisone it almost took away all the pain. I am now on Methotrexate and Remicade but it doesn't seem to be helping the pain. UC symptoms pretty good. I started 10 mg of prednisone yesterday and today but not helping yet. I am wondering if the Remicade has caused this.

I understand your fear. I am eating plant based but have been eating more sugar. I am really going to work on decreasing that and gluten. I have 4 kids and started a great new job. SO exhausted at the end of the day. maybe we can stay in touch. i am scared too.

Hi folks, I have been on hydroxychloriquin (sic) plaquenal for over 20 years and for 10 years it cured all my symptoms. Now mtx and retuxan and little prednisone and plaquenal keep me working and comfortable. Pretty rich full life (sometimes painful) but 71 and six grandchildren who we enjoy. It isn’t easy but worth it!

Plaquniel is safe just take with food. I've been taking since march 2019 no issues. i take 200mg 2 pills a day. I also have Ulcerative Colitis since 1994. Best wishes
