Hi Confusedin2022, I do not understand the dr removing the synovium, this is what lubricates the joints. Are you positive you heard him correctly? Is this a regular orthopedic or one that specializes in knees only? The reason I ask, if this dr does not specialize in knees only, I would get a second opinion. I am assuming you've had an MRI, be sure to get a copy of it too.
My first knee scope was done by a regular orthopedic. I really liked him, he suspected a torn meniscus but could not find it. My knee stayed swollen all of the time. After the scope he told me, my diagnosis has not changed, I am sending you to a ortho that specializes in knees. This is another reason I liked him, he was honest.
Sure enough I had a 2nd scope & the dr found the tear. Since then I've had scopes by this dr & he finds the tears. Every time I've had issues with my knees they always swell.
I wouldn't be concerned about the positive ANA since the rest of the testing has been ok. A positive ANA is an indicator something may be off somewhere in the body.
My neighbor had a small tear & since it was summer his orthopedic recommended water therapy, no surgery. I have a pool & he did his therapy in my pool.
Take care.
