Not been here for a while (is that awhile or a while ????) anyway sorry for bieng away so soon.
Thought I'd drop in with some good news for a change.
Just a quick re-cap
I have been suffering for nearly 2 years now with hip pain. 1/2 years no meds at all. Very very painfull...not much sleep...blah blah blah.
Went ot doc for some meds to help me sleep.
Suggested I also have an x-ray.
Diagnosed with arthritis left hip no gap (that means it's as bad as it can get...I think) right hip reduced gap (not gone yet but on the way)
I am then told I must have an op (Hip resurface) to put things right.
Not very happy about this as I play Tennis once a week (2 hours)
Squash 3 times a week
Football once a week.
Weights 2 to 5 times weekly.
After the op I was told 99% of this activity would go.
Not happy at all.
I have now seen the specialist who says that I do not ever need to have an operation and nobody should
ever tell me I should. He said that it should be me that says weather I need an operation or not.
There is no doubt that my hip is knackered, but with Dicloflex (50mg) 3 x a day and regular excerise the pain is just bearable. I can also take 2 x Tramadol if needed.
The question I had to ask myself was
Do I want to give up Squash...no I don't
Do I want to give up Tennis...no I don't
Do I want to give up Football...I could live without it but it's great for fitness.
So as long as I can live with the pain my specialist informs me I can carry on forever.
With the operation it is unlikely I will be able to do anything but extremely light Tennis.
So for the moment I am opting for the Pain and being able to continue my sporting activities.
Strangely enough as long as I keep going the pain seems to be less.
The hardest part is knowing that every single day I will be in pain...maybe even for the rest of my life...but I Love playing Squash and Tennis at the moment I think the trade of is acceptable.
I am still relatively young now (43) I may change my mind as I get older.
Thank you for your time.
