I know it's a bit premature, as I've only had 2 Enbrel injections, but I woke up this morning for the first time in a very long time without feeling like I've been hit by a truck.  So far, I don't feel like I even need to take an ultracet!  I really hope this works for me, as I was very disappointed in the Humira.  How long can you take Enbrel?  Years?

I hoping at least a year, since I've been on it for a year. I think it could be forever, but we are all the first set of folks on these drugs, seeing as they are pretty new. I guess if I grow a third eye, someone will revisit the long term affects of the drug.

It took me several weeks before I felt better with Enbrel, but YMMV. I believe one's attitude is at least as important as the drugs, maybe you are confident it will help you ... and it has!

I've only been on Enbrel for 2 weeks, but I was on Humira for 12 weeks.  Perhaps I'm feeling the cumulative effects of both drugs?  My rheumatologist told me that enbrel has a different mechanism than remicade or humira, but who knows?  I'm starting to slow down a bit now that it's later in the morning.  If I stiffen up more I'll take an ultracet, but it's still nice to wake up with less pain.

Hey elcamino, glad you are feeling so much better. I noticed significant changes with the Enbrel after a short time also. I have been on it since March of last year... How long can we be on it? I honestly don't know. My rheumy told me for however long I want, so we'll see... here's to keep on feeling better... Duck

Yeah, each doc I've spoken with has said you can be on the TNFs for the duration or until something happens where you have to stop. But as long as it is effective, you can keep on it! I mean, RA doesn't go away....so medicine is needed for the most part....for a lifetime. Just ride the good wave for now and enjoy!
