The strep throat saga continues. I had a throat culture done last Thursday just to make sure that I no longer have an active infection (although I don't have proof that I ever had strep throat because I didn't go to the doctor when I had active symptoms). PA that examined me last Thursday said point blank, "I don't think you have strep throat." Nevertheless because I'm taking enbrel she did a throat culture anyway. Well, guess what--results are in and I have an active infection even though I have no symptoms. Now, isn't that a definition of a carrier? Should a carrier always be treated with antibiotics when it's caught? I realize I brought this on myself by insisting on a throat culture, but I was a little worried about
taking the enbrel if I had an infection. Now, per my rheumatologist I have to wait until I've completed the antibiotics to continue the enbrel injections--10 days! Now that the enbrel is finally starting to work (after 5 months of tnf-inhibitors), will that put me back at all when I skip a few injections?
Erin, I believe you mentioned that you were a strep carrier too and that you continued injections through antibiotics. Did you just not tell your doctor and continue injections anyway? How did you find out you were a carrier?
Thanks!
