Hey there - I'm here in SD and I had Dr. A. Mobaquio for about 2 years (I also went to Dr. Kaplan for a few years until he stopped taking my insurance, I paid out of pocket for about a year then couldn't afford it anymore - HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! He is my PCP's rhuemy as well, if that tells you anything! But, I digress! )
Dr. M (we'll just call him that for short) is very nice. He is on the younger side (web says he's been practicing for 11 years.) He was with the San Diego Arthritis clinic for a while, then suddenly left and took his assistant Yvonne (who is awesome.) I got the impression there was something going on at the clinic for about 6 months - he seemed distracted and upset (not at me) a lot before he left. He moved his office over by Grossmont, which was too far for me, so I decided not to follow him (but considered it!)
They all have the same ideas (even the really good ones) - they don't believe that meds give you reactions for starters (so be very aware of your body and what's going on - it's up to YOU!) At the SDClinic, they won't do anything remotely close for you if it can fall under the "PCP" realm even if your PCP wants you to go to them! However, I did like him and he was very nice. A quiet demenor, but I dont' recall having difficulty talking with him. When I got really ill, I did have some differences w/his point of view on occasion, but you are going to find that with everyone.
Expect to discuss your history with the doctor, what your complaints have, what meds you've tried, what you are taking now, etc. They typically listen well, make notes, check you out, and give you a lab slip for bloodwork. I'd say, it'll be a long visit as they fill out your history and such. COuld be as long as 30-40 minutes.
Good luck.
