hi everyone, elcamino i just read your post and i am happy for you!

 

me on the other hand, a bit worried and concerned.... my pulmonary visit not as good. the 7 nodules on my lungs have all grown over the past 6 months.  not huge. yet but growing...... still not certain if it is RA related or early cancer.  i will have a repeat ctscan in 3 months with the pet scan.  then i should know more certainly.  a bit depressed and frustrated.  does anyone out there have growing lung nodules , not scars, due to RA?!  if so please reply.  well i have an 11 HV around the corner got to put on my smiley face and go to work.... want to cry.... yalinda

(((Yalinda))).  I'm so sorry to hear your distressing news.  Do they think your nodules are what is causing your cough, or is it the mtx?  Are you still taking the mtx?  For what it's worth, RA-related lung disease primarily refers to symptomless nodules, and they're not malignant.  I pray that is the case with you, although it is a little concerning that they have grown.  What is the next step?  Will they biopsy one of them?  Please keep us posted on your progress.

sad  awe, my gal! {{{{{{{{{{ yalinda...HUGS }}}}}}}}}}}  i would want to cry too. and if you do...that's alright.

so wow, does lung CA have a family history with you?  what was explained to you by the doc?

i would do a biopsy, definitely.  some patients i have cared for have had cystic lungs...and those cysts, which were benign...they did grow. but remained benign.

this might be overwhelming...and i do not expect you to answer, but if you know any of these answers, when you feel up to it...let me know:

did they mention TB? a thing called miliary nodules? solitary pulmonary nodules?

now usually, with any lung lesions/nodules....they are compared to previous xrays; after that they'll most likely want a sputum culture & a biopsie.  and i would absolutey advise to do so...to be safe ya know?

are they really going to make you wait 3 months for the next step in evaluating this?

don't forget the power of a 2nd opinion (or 3rd or 4th) and another set of eyes.

thanks ladies.

elcamino, i am truely happy for you and do not want to overshadow your good news. i am still on the mtx and off the prednisone. i phoned my rheummy this afternoon and am waiting for a call. my pulmonary guy made little of the mtx cough thing like yours first did, but your post has made me phone my rhuemmy. if you recall my rheummy had no power or phone service for over a week during our surprise storm,so that is how i ended up with the pcp and then back to the pulmmie. the advair is helping very little.......................

pulmmie just called.....ring ring........ he put me back on prednisone to see if that takes the cough away, if not then it could be mtx but he said that is rare......

erin, i had a tb test 6 months ago when the spots first showed their ugly face and that was negative.
as far as the three month wait, my rhuemmy repeated that wait time three times on the phone call i just got and he said he wanted to hear back from me in 1 week for any progress or changes.

i tried to get a second opinion over the summer and it was a 6 month wait and so i forgot about it and settled for this pullmie guy. i dont know what to think of everything..... do i have asthma, dont i? do i have RA lung , dont i? is it early ca? or not?

no mention of other nodule names just the repeat cscan in jan. with a pet scan. no biopsy because they are not big enough and i think to challenging to biopsy? i dont know he just said he wouldnt biopsy any of them.

it is kinda confussing and concerning but i am not so depressed right now .... tired from the stress
not in shock anymore and hopeing to find out it is just this Dang RA..... anger to think this could mess up my lungs ....

i know it is real to u elcamino, to real with ur mom and all.

my grandfather died of lung cancer and my grandmother did also but it traveled to her brain before she died. gramps was a chain smoker though and gramma suffered cuz of him.

Yup, I'm groovy... trying to fight off a cold/virus, so I haven't been around much... just feel.. BLAH... I've been getting caught up on all the posts... loved your "Ode" on the other post by the way.... Hang in there sweetie, we'll get ya through this..
