bone spurs and rheumatoid arthritis

Is there any relationship between bone spurs on your feet and rheumatoid arthritis? I've seen it associated with osteoarthritis, but not rheumatoid. I have a large lump on the dorsal part of my right foot, right over my arch. It doesn't hurt unless I wear shoes that press down on it. Additionally, when I press on the back of my heel (and the left side), I get extreme burning pins and needles. This happens just laying in bed; I have to remember to turn my right foot so that the right side is facing the mattress. Is this at all related to RA? Or inflammatory arthritis in general? Or what?

Hi Elcamino,

This is an interesting question..I too have bone spurs on my feet. Right on the side above my big toe on both feet, and they hurt as well. I have not heard they are caused by RA, maybe someone will know the answer here! My husband often tells me at some point, I need to have them removed...ouch no way!!

I have them to,I have them on both feet and as well on my hands and on my lower part of my spin.There are shots that my Rheumatolagist injects into the spares and it has caused them to swink (sp)I can't remember the name of the med but I will ask as soon as I see my Rheumy.
