My lower back and hips are on fire....

I have AS and the last couple of days I can't even push my vacuum around. I'm trying to do laundry today. My rheumy started me on sulfasalazine 500mg's 2x a day. I've been on it for about a week or so. I'm not noticing a change. However, patience is not one of my virtues. I've had ice on it, my tens unit on it for several hours and then bengay. Does anyone know how long it takes before it works?

is that fire thing a side effect of the sulfa stuff? or.... did you hurt your back? i dunno? take care of yourself chelle - dont over do it.
