Hey there songstress.. Mobic is a NSAID.. It is ok.. there are many of us here on the forum that have been on it or that are on it... It is like Motrin/Ibuprofen.. It's not being prescribed for you, is it?

oh no! I thought maybe it was better. Ive been taking 800mg motrin like candy....and it does NADA for the arthritis...and no its not being prescribed for me.

My mom got some today and the doc told her it was good for RA but I just read it causes stomach bleeding..I definitely dont need that with CD.

guess Im stuck with Pred till I can get some pain meds or back on remicade!

Mobic is supposed to be stronger than Motrin, however, it did litte to nothing for me with the pain.. I hope it works for your mom.. Why are you off the Remicade?

actually MOBIC is in th class of the COX2's so it's "easier" on the GI tract....see how it goes, some can tolerate it without having it upset CD and some can't.

no insurance currently..Im hoping to get approved by Sept1st...I just signed up for a new plan with BCBS..and Im waiting on the underwriting

Hi strongstess,

well I took mobic a while back, with a combination of other medications, it help me a bit, however I had to stop taking it beucase My mensutration would be soo heavy from it, and it messed up Cycle, and I would Bleed for 3 weeks....Now I dont know if it was the mobic itself that did that, or if it was the combination of everything that made my Menstration go wild...but my dr said it was defitently the Mobic..

So now they susituted Colchicine in addition to my daily vigourous Cocktail that I take with my other meds, and that has help me quite a bit....Soo everyone is different, I hope the mobic works.

Just remember that most of the medications that treat illness like RA, LUPUS, and many others usually have alot of side effects, including but not limited to
GI-Bleeding, Ulcers, Vomiting, Heartburn, Liver failure and many others to say the least, so just let ur mom know what while she takes her meds, let her know to drink plenty of fluids to help her liver fucntion, becasue the older we get, the harder it is to rid ourselves of the toxins that we take in....and even though sometimes the doctors will give u something that can cause other complications, depending on the patient and Diagnoses, those side effects will not out weigh the benifit of the drug, Soo as long as ur mom does her montly blood work/urine anaylis and drinks plenty of fluids, she can decrease the chances of getting those aweful side effects....

Of course everyone tolerates meds differently, but I tried Mobic and it totally aggravated the intestinal symptoms of my Crohn's within a week of being on it. Needless to say I stopped taking it pretty quick.

I have RA, but also have GI issues, so I need to be careful with any NSAIDS.  Mobic did a number of my GI tract (both upper and lower).  With CD, I would be very very careful with even mobic.  HOpefully, your new insurance will come through and you can get back on remicade.
