 I HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME VERY BAD VISION CHANGES. WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING I CAN NOT SEE WITH GLASSES ON. I CAN SEE SOME IF I TAKE THEM OFF. BY AFTER A COUPLE HOURS IT SEEMS A LITTLE BETTER. BUT NOT RIGHT. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED DR. IT IS WIERD. I AM ON SULFASALAZINE 1000MG. TRIED TO GO UP BUT I AM A PUKER THEY HAVE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME WITH ME. METHO(SP) I PUKED AND PUKED. SO THEY ARE TRYING THIS LIGHTER DOSE THEN IN DEC. WILL TAKE METHO. INJECTIONS DARVACET I ONLY TAKE 1 EVERY 4 HOURS THEY WANT ME TO TAKE TWO BUT I CAN NOT WORK AND DO THIS. CLONAZEPAM TO SLEEP. AND CHANTIX TO QUIT SMOKING AND ANYONE OUT THERE IT IS WORKING VERY WELL. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH RA IN APRIL AND IN OCT. THEY SAYED I ALSO HAVE SOME OSTEO. IF ANYONE COULD GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON THIS VISION CHANGE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

Ninny hi...my sympathy to you.
RA can effect the optic nerve in the eye so it's very important to have a yearly eye exam by an opthalmologist. I suggest ya' get your toosh to one!
Some arthritis meds can cause eye problems as well. So you really do have to keep on top of this.
Any previous issues with cataracts or glaucoma?  Having headaches?
I think your answers will come after a trip to the eye doc.

Welcome Ninny5,glade to have you.Erin is right Ra can effect your optic nerve and Erin is all so right there are meds that can cause you have a change in your eye site.I am on Plaqunile(sp)and I have to have my eye's checked every six months.The Plaqunile that I'm on is what was effecting my eye's I did have to get stonger eye glasses but I just had them rechecked and no changes this go around.

I WENT TO OPTHAMALOGIST ON SAT. I HAVE HAD SOME VERY SEVERE VISION CHANGES THE RIGHT EYE IS THE WORST SHE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO . VERY DEVASTATED. SHE ASKED ME WHY ARE YOU CRYING DID YOU JUST THINK I COULD GIVE YOU GLASSES AND FIX EVERYTHING DUH! OF COURSE I DID I AM A SECRETARY SO THERE GOES THAT I PROCESS MONEY I CAN NOT EVEN SEE THE NUMBERS. HAVE A VISUAL FIELD TEST TOMMORROW AND THEN WE GO FROM THERE. I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND . I HAVE BEEN THRU SO MUCH SINCE DIAGNOSED IN APRIL. I DO NOT NO HOW SOME OF YOU HANDLE ALL THIS. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS?

No drastic vision changes for me yet. Did the doc give you a diagnosis? There are usually drops for glaucoma and or macular degeneration to at least delay the diseases, and surgery for cataracts. hopefully whatever you have can at least be stabilized. My prayers are with you and now to call and get myself a good checkup

Hi there,

Can imagine how discouraged you must be.  Please let us know how your tests come out.  I just had my first vision field test done on Saturday. This is pretty scarfy stuff we're dealing with, but we're here for you...will be praying the docs are able to help you.

Welcome aboard!  I too have had a change in my eyesight.  The Doc believes it is due to the Plaquenil that I take.  I had to get stronger glasses.  It is very scary.  I have no eye sight in my left eye due to it being a lazy eye from birth.  So now the right eye is giving me trouble.  Best wishes for you and hopefully they can come to some type of conclusion for you.  Maybe it is one of your meds?
