I have been experiencing a new kind of pain lately. I am use to pain. I have been dx with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. I have a Rheumy appointment on the 26th and my Opthamologist as asked me to have the Rheumy test me for Sjogren's. So as yet I am not diagnosed with Sjogren's. I seem to have all the severe dry symptoms so we will see. My question is if this new kind of pain is indicative of Sjogren's or some new FM/CFS pain.

Let me explain....My problem is with an intense stabbing pain in my right pinky toe. (It's not a twitch but a sharp pain.) It feels as if someone has stabbed me with an ice pick or knife. The pain shoots up my leg to about my knee. The pain only last for 2-3 seconds. It is about the intensity of a bad cramp in your calf. It enough to make me jump and then I feel that intense pain. Argh! It has happened about a dozen times in the past week.

Is this type of pain characteristic of Sjogren's? Or is it some FM/CFS pain I have yet to experience?

As far as I know, Sjogren's is pretty much limited to the moist areas of the body, including connective tissue that holds our organs together. Maybe other have more ideas about this.

I have had a similar stabbing pain in my groin area for several weeks - after checking w/rheumy, chiropractor, and PCP, I was sent to physical therapy and working with them have regained a lot of lost strength in the hip & knee, but still sometimes have that stabbing pain. No one really has a cause for mine yet...not really characteristic of lupus or fibro.

I would try eliminating things on my own to see if I could find any pattern with it, such as stairs, shoes, standing, getting up - when is it most likely to occur, etc. The more info you can give the rheumy (or any other drs you run into) the better they are able to help figure it out.

I have this stabbing pain all over my body along with cramping twitting and stiffness. Lots of symptom and no diagnosis

Stabbing pain is more from nerves. U should see neurologist

I know it's been a while for this post but neuropathy is big with this disease. The stabbing shooting sharp all are nerve pain. Especiallyy if you are having numbness ongoing fire- like or twitching. Best Togo to a dermatology or neurology and make sure haven't developed neuropathy. The can do a simple skin biopsy for that.

Can they really check for neuropathy with a skin biopsy?

My son had Nerve conduction tests for that.

He is currently having very severe symptoms of Dry Eyes and Dry Throat the doctors have been throwing around the word Sjogren's.

The blood tests did not indicate that he has Sjogren's

yes they can.  if your neuro says no. got to a dermatologist and explain the symptoms. they can look for small fiber neuropathy. the emg/ncv does not pick up the small fiber neuropathy.

they take three or four samples from different spots. if its positive then u need to hunt down cause. as if cause is found and controlled then these symptoms get better.

plus for sjogren they can do a lip biopsy. thats the most effective.

i have the sensory and motor symptoms for long time and no answers..its hard

These are not tiny biopsies! They take out a chunk about the size of a pencil eraser.

Personally, my doctor was comfortable diagnosing and treating based on symptoms, and that was fine with me.

Sounds like Peripheral Neuropathy. My dad had the same pain and I do sometimes....have you spoken to a Neurologist?...My dad described his pain sometimes (And me, too) like "Lightning strikes" or "shocks"....
