AAAAARGH!
What a year!!! First I wa s thought to have Crohns earlier this year. After two endoscopies, two colonoscopies and discover of ulcers in my ileum, I was told after biopsy that I didnt have crohns as they thought. Now a positive ANA Direct with anti-la SSB antibodies, I was told by the rheumatologist that I have Sjogrens or lupus or both. Second visit for followup, he changes his tune and gets non committal. Says he is not sure. My lab results show diffuse increase in polyclonal gammaglobulins. Elevated SPEP and negative for SSb antibodies. He thinks something is brewing but claims he does not know for sure. He recommends Plaquenil for skins lesions he thinks to be sub acute cutaneous lupus. I went to the dermatologist for a skin biopsy. I am waiting for results from his biopsies to see if there are lupus bands. He says it could be anything from seborheic dermatitis to psoriasis to lupus. I am so frustrated. How can I have antibodies for Sjogrens and not have it? How can they be there and then not be there? I actually meet most of the criteria for lupus not sjogrens but I do have dry mouth and gritty eyes. Maybe early onset Sjogrens???
Help! What do you think??? I looked up SSB antibodies only without SSA and I cannot find many references to only having one without the other. Anybody have a positive SSB anti la and no SSA??
