hello everybody

im a mail 32 years old

I have an ultcrative colitis

one year ago I woke up at the morning feeling my fingers in my hands and my legs heart

at that time I start to feel my mouth is dry. I went to a ra dr she sent me to do saliva qty check and all blood tests for sjogren and also shirmer test---all came back normal

I sufferd from the dry mouth for this all year and 3 weaks ago the same fingers heart came back and I started to feel more mouth problems and Throat dryness. went to the dr again and  made all the test.

blood tests-ana,ssa,ssb,esr,crp,rf..... and more  came back normal

saliva test-normal (qty,ph....)

shirmer(aye test)-positive

I don't realy fill my ayes are dry

I will meat the dr again but I want to ask you what do you think? is it sjogren?

is it possible that after one year the blood test still not show it?

the aye dr told me its not Enough to do the shirmer test one time and I will probably need to do it 1-2 times more--did anyone have this test and later not the same results?

It seems to me that your Dr is doing the Sjogren's tests and giving you the negative results.

Sjogren's is a lot more than just a dry mouth, and dry mouth can be many other things besides Sjogren's.

I seriously doubt you have Sjogren's.

I know that fry mouth can be from many resones but I don't have the dry mouth only. Pls read the all post again and let me know what you think... Thanks

Hi Rgs. It sounds like your rheumatologist did all the right tests for Sjogren's. For some folks it can take up to a couple of years for the blood tests to become negative, but you've been having problems for a long time and still your tests are negative so I also doubt you have Sjogren's. Anyway, if you're still having problems go back to your doc next year and ask to be tested again. In the mean time, there are very good eye drops you can buy at the drug store. Look for the ones for moderate to severe dry eyes- that's what I use. For dry mouth the Biotene toothpaste and other products also work very well. I'm sorry we can't be of more use to you, but I really hope you can get some relief using these over the counter medications. Love, Butterflake

Do you know if the saliva quantity check is enough to confirm no saliva problems? Have you done it also?
Also I went today for another eye dr and made the schirmer test again. Bought eyes had 11mm after 5 min
I remember that I blink 2-3 times in each eye during the 5 min and I read when I got home that it's not good to blink while the test done, do you think I should really ask for another test?

Hi I am new. I went to an Opthomologist because I have been have circles of light out of the corner of right eye about 7 months and then it started on my left. It there. Swirls and goes away. Dr said my retinas were fine she would be concerned if it were a hurts of light. She said swirls are common with migraines. I get hear aches but nothing horrible. I have ra. Fibro chronic fatigue. Flips with insomnia. Depression anxiety and panic. The dr wants to put "plugs" in my tear ducks because my eyes are dry so is my mouth for years I use lubricating eye drops. I don't want these us anyone have expertise e ?
