I have a lot of thickened mucus too. I know someone posted that the Nettipot did not help, but I found using the squeeze bottle that comes with the Nealmed kit helps me a lot. If you opt to try this, be sure to use distilled or boiled tap water.
I have a ridiculous routine when I get ready for bed. I use a steroid nasal spray, wait a while, then follow using the NealMed. The mucus from sinuses is usually easy to cough up. Then I brush my teeth and lastly use dilute Listerine to wash my mouth with and gargle. Listerine may not be able to be tolerated by some, and it is drying, but this has helped keep down my rate of sinus and lung infections. Pneumonia has been a real problem for me, so thus far, this routine seems to have helped.
I have been on daily Prednisone for many years and would give anything to get off of it. Unfortunately, this is the only medication I responded to and I now have osteoporosis as a result of being on it so long.
