Beave, Do you have Sjogren's or Lupus or MCTD or UCTD? Or Scleroderma or Auto-immune Hepatitis or even Polymyositis or Dermatomyositis? These are the diseases most often associated with a positive ANA, but the ANA number does
NOT correlate to the presence or severity of a disease. A high ANA can even be the result of some medications! Many people without a disease, like over 20%, have a positive ANA, especially women over 65. An ANA measurement does not indicate the severity of a disease, you even mentioned that yourself above.
Mrsmom, you may want to read this yourself to draw your own conclusions about
ANA.
