Hello,

This is my first post here.  Happy to meet you.

I've read thru the threads but didn't come across anything about fish oil.  I used to use the eye drops -- and salve at night.  Then I came across something on the internet about taking fish oil for dry eyes, so decided to try it.  I haven't had to use the drops or salve for 2 years.  I take 4800 mg per day (4 - 1200mg tablets).  For me it worked so well that twice I quit because I thought the whole problem might have gone away.  Both times the dry eyes returned.  So now I'm on fish oil for good -- or as long as it keeps working.  If you decide to try it, give it a month to fully kick in.

I've been on fish oil for a little over a month (also 4 triple strength capsules daily) and have found that it really helps with muscle aches as well.  I have also noticed that my mouth and nose are less dry - don't need to drink as much water.  I wondered if that was just the weather - but I think you might be on to something.

I hadn't heard about fish oil helping with the dry eyes, this is interesting!

If you do a google search on "fish oil and dry eyes" you can get more info.

Noticed someone mentioned to be sure and use a good brand.  I'm not sure which one's are considered good.  I use "Nature Made" brand.  Am able to get it at the drugstores and also the pharmacy at Cub Food.

In addition to fish oil, someone spoke of "krill oil";  believe they said they found it even better than fish oil.  (Have never used krill oil, so can't speak for that.)

A while back my ophthalmologist told me to use Omega-3 supplements for my dry eyes, which fish oil falls under. I fell out the habit of taking them a long time ago. How bad is it that I couldn't even remember to take vitamins every day?!? Now that I have to take meds 6 times a day I think I will ask my rheumy at my next visit if it would be safe to begin taking these again in combination with all my medications.

I'd have to agree in that Omega 3 can help, it's in with the fish oil, you could also ask your pharmacy if you can continue with
the omega 3, I'm guessing it's safe to use...but always good to check...

I just ordered fish oil, Kirkland brand. Sure hope it works.My eyes have been driving me crazy.

OMG
My son used to take fish oil daily but that was a couple years ago,
I"ll let him know that this is helping some of you and hopefully it will help him. : )

I will write again after he tries this. He really is suffering with this and he has an app. set up for june 8.....he claims he can't make it that long.

Any certain questions that I should ask the doc.? Let me know. Thanks

Thanks for giving this suggestions, I have some problems in left eye last 2,3 month so now I will to try this. let me check that how it is effective for me.

I use the Puritan's Pride Coated fish oil 1000mg 4 x's a day and the same with Evening in Primrose 1300mg. This increases your GLA and helps with the muscle and joint pain along with lessening the dry eye. You should always check with your pharmacist and your doctor before you try this. You don't want to interfere with any other medicine that you might be taking. This way you are getting your omega 3 & 6 which have been shown to help people with almost any autoimmune disease. If you have a cholesterol problem it will bring your good cholesterol up and that will help to lower your bad. Turmeric Curcumin 500mg is also helpful in lowering inflammation 4 x's a day. Nutrition is the answer.
