Hi There,

My name is Susie and I am new to this board and newly diagnosed. 

 

I have been thru the "ringer", as I am sure a whole lot of you out thereave have to get this unfortunate disease dx'd.  I have had breast cancer twice, two mastectomies 99 and 09, and I think that has been easier than this rotten disease.  I have been thru the mill - and I know you will all understand with the symptoms that are so difficult to put up with dealing with Sjogrens.

 

My rheumatologist from way back when thought only Fibro for years, then when the parotids started swelling, constant sinus infections, kidney infections, on and on, and on, she tested blood work came back with positive RF.  Also have the constant DRY everything.

 

To make a long story short, I wanted to introduce myself to the board, and I guess "complain" I'm sorry, and to also ask a specific question. I had my lip biopsy yesterday and my stitches are almost all disolved.  She said it would be 3 days.  Also, my lip is still completely numb.  Have any of you experienced this???

 

Thanks so much for listening.  Any tips you all might have would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes with lip biopseys the nerve that runs from posterior of your last molar to the middle of your lip with your lower lip being numb.....The nerve might have been nicked and in time the numbness will lessen.

If the upper lip is numb it still involves the nerve up there to. Be careful that you dont bite yourself or burn yourself with hot fluids.

Let us know how you make out in the coming days.

make sure to use ice cubes, should you start to feel a lot of pain...
my lip biopsy hurt really bad, I had two done at the same times, so
it's not one of the best things to go thru...keep us posted on your results...
and get into your eye doctor for eye drops or eye plugs to help with your eye's
and once your lip has healed look for Biotene mouth rinse and use it at night
to help with the mouth dryness...nice to meet you...

Hello,  I am 34yrs old I just was recently told i have sjogren, with postive blood test and the shimer eye test and just had the lib biopsy on Thur. From the first shot to the stitches being done it only took 5-7 min very short on time. about two hours after is when i started feeling the pain. I had taken 3 advil, used an ice pack as soon as i got to my car and that was not as bad as i worked myself up to thinking it was going to be.  Today my lip is still sore i find that i have a burning sensation in the middle with a little tingeling.  I have done a salt water rinses in hopes of preventing an infection. Is there anyone here that does alternative healing for sjogrens, like with diet and vitamins exercise. Would love to know what things have worked for you.   Thanks

Hello everyone!

Susie, I would like to know more about how your lip numbness progressed! Has it gone yet? How long did it take?
I had my lip biopsy 4 days ago and part of my lip is still numb. I went to see the doctor who operated on me yesterday but he was surprised and told me to wait until the swelling goes down.
The biopsy took longer than I thought - about 40 minutes including waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect, and although my stitches should dissolve I think they are supposed to take up to 2 weeks...

It was such a horrible experience I wonder if it is worth it just to get a diagnosis... I am still waiting for the results of my blood tests and chest X-ray...

Thanks for any information anyone can give me about numbness!

Nortickpony, try using ice cubes inside your mouth, ice cubes sure did help me, after my lip biopsy and they should help with the swelling.
Many well wishes to you, also get into your eye doctor and have checks with your eye's as for me sjogren's is messing with my eye more than anything...

Did the numbness go away? I’m 5wks and mine continues. Dr is confused. I’m just frustrated and angry. 😭

Did your lip numbing go away? I’m at week 5 and I have horrible numbness and tingling, and a little pain at the biopsy site still.
