I am trying to figure things out.  All of my blood tests are normal with the exception of my + ANA and elevated RNP (1.3).  My Smith Antibody was normal.  RE said that + RNP is the front gate to Lupus, Scleroderma, or MCTD.  RE said I may be in the very beginning phase of my disease. 

My symptoms have been: PVC's, fatigue, lightheaded, body/joint aches, psoriasis or eczema on scalp and ears, legs/feed and hands swell periodically, insomnia, geographical tongue, swollen tongue with occasional sores on tongue, tonsil stones, headaches, get real tired after being outside, etc.

I was told that I could have some symptoms of Sjorgren's Syndrome.   

What are your symptoms and how long did it take for symptoms to progress?  

What tests were done for the diagnosis?

Hi Chawnie. The most predominant symptoms of Sjogren's is dryness of mucous membranes, especially the eyes and mouth. One's eyes feel gritty, dry, and itchy and mouth problems include difficulty swallowing, lips sticking to teeth, and tongue sticking to the palette. The parotid glands can also be effected causing noticeable swelling of the neck at the back of the jaw. The only time I had swollen tongue I saw an oral  pathologist who said anxiety was causing me to push my tongue into my teeth giving my tongue a scalloped appearance. The tongue is a very powerful muscle. She taught me that when your mouth is relaxed your lips should be closed, but the teeth slack so she gave me the mantra "teeth open, teeth open" each time I was tense. It worked!

In my opinion, you should be receiving treatment regarding your antiphospholipid antibodies and your rheumatologist should be running lab tests once or twice a year. The lupus forum has some great advice at the top of the page and you may find info on the Lupus Foundation of America website useful.

Butterflake - Thank you for your response.  I was retested again for the antiphospholipid and anticardiolipin antibody and the tests came out negative.  The only tests that were positive were ANA and RNP. 

I have also posted on the Lupus forum to get their opinions as well.  This is all new to me and am in shock with the positive test results.  Trying to figure things out.
