Hola everyone.  I wanted to introduce myself.  I live in Ajijic Mexico and after 4 years of getting sick off and on and ending up on IV which would bring me back to normal I was diagnosed with a tendency towards Sjogren's, celiac, and RA.  I am on Immuran.   I am visiting grandchildren in Pennsylvania and came down with a cold.  Yikes!  I haven't had a cold in over 8 years.  Living where I do in Mexico we just don't seem to get them.  But here I am trying to enjoy my grandkids and came down with a killer cold.  I am trying to tough it out and just let it run it's course.  There is some Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom stuff here at the house and was wondering if it's okay to take it since I am on the Imuran.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forum Mexgal1 and hola! There should be no problem taking Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom along with your Imuran. You might also want to buy some Mucinex which will loosen the mucus in your sinuses and/or chest and help prevent other infections. My doc has me take Mucinex twice daily, every day because when Sjogren's dries the sinuses the mucus sticks and clogs.

Hi everyone,
This the first time I have looked online to find other people with Sjogrens though I've had it about 6 years. (It wasn't correctly diagnosed until 3 years ago). My mouth gets so dry and hurts so much, I can't eat half of what I used to enjoy any more and my feet ache so I can't walk on them.
I got 6 chickens and 2 geese, they make me laugh, it helps a lot. There's not much else, right?

Thank you for responding.  Wasn't sure how active this site was/is.  It so nice to finally get on a site with like minded people.  I appreciate your advice regarding the over counter things I might take to ease my symptoms. 

I am an Expat who has lived in Ajijic for 8.5 years.  We live on a mountain overlooking a 70 mile long lake.  Cobblestone streets an very artistic.  There is a big expat community there.  But best of all for me the health care is incredible.  My doctors who speak English come to my home and when necessary and I have to go on IV for fluids the nurses come to my home and hook me up and stay overnight(for like $5 an hour).....so I am very spoiled.

Good to hear back from you Mexgal and welcome to our forum Shey Shey. I must admit our Sjogren's forum isn't very active, but I enjoy it all the same.

Shey Shey, I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulty eating and walking, but I'm glad you find pleasure with your animals. I don't have chickens, but I do have an old dog (Mr. Peabody), 2 cats (Silent Bob and Emerald Kitty) and a guinea pig (Bacon Bit). I also have a bird feeder on my patio that is regularly visited by a squirrel I've named Jimmy...he cracks corn.

Mexgal, I'm jealous of your Expat status! I'm on disability and my hubby talks about moving from Atlanta when he retires, but he's not interested in moving outside the states. Honestly, I've been hospitalized so many times that I'm not even sure I want to move. I moved often pre-ATL with my daughter and we had a great time.

Hi Mexgal1 -welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you have the tendency toward sjogrens, but glad you found a forum where you can gain knowledge and feel support when needed. I agree that this forum is not as active as some others online but I have found it helpful and the folks to be kind.
