Hi
I have recently been diagnosed with primary sjorgrens. I am 55 female. I had dry mouth and then my eyes became gritty along with a feeling of general weakness. It took examinations by dentist, opticians ent specialist to finally getting a dx after lip biopsy as my bloods were always ok. My tear production was below 6 when examined. Just wondering does this get worse. I am due to be seen by rheumatologist shortly. Just would like some feed back on this disease.

Get an eye doctor that specializes with sjogren's and see or ask about tear duct plugs as tear duct plugs can help with that sandpaper feeling in your eye's...I've gotten eye plugs for years now, So I'm kinda a expert at them, just had new plugs placed in my eye 2 weeks ago...Warm wash cloths over your eye's help.
Genteal Eye drops help...Sjogren's can get worse, like for me it does effect the nerves and has started effecting my nerves...Your RA doctor will repeat all the bloodwork with more bloodwork as well, so be prepared your going to be meeting Dracula, (just joking, hope you don't mind) and the RA doc will look over all your joints as well...

Thanks for feed back. I actually had plugs inserted which have eased symptoms of dryness. I am still awaiting appointment with Rheum. doc. so will see how it goes from there. Just good to know not alone as anyone I tell that I have sjorgrens have never heard of it confused !!! Take care
