need your help/experiance

I wrote here a week ago

im dealing with some symptoms and cant realy understand what is going on

it start last year, I woke up one day with joint pain in fingers and toes , from those days I remember that I start getting the dry mouth feeling, I made some test-saliva quantity test,schirmer,ana,rf,esr,crp,ssb,ssa,c3,c4,imunoglobin-a-m-g.......

all of them where ok

Iv been living with this filling for this last year until 3 weeks ago.again one morning with joint pains,fingers and toes and a filing that my mouth got worse and the dryness got my throght also.(I get throght pain Especially at night)

again I made all those test that came back normal beside the schirmer test---I did it twice and one was positive one negative (I don't really fill its dry)....

dose the saliva quantity test can say any thing about the dryness ?

does the schirmer test can be Reliable ?(one test without Anaesthesia drops was 3mm and the second with Anaesthesia was 11mm)

im a male 32 years old and have ulcerative colitis and this whole issue getting me hard time now...

Hi. I'm on a very simple medicine now name asscol. It's not the cause for the dry mouth because I use it for years and the problem is for the last year. I connect between the dry mouth getting worse and the joints pain that came with it. I also suffer from a heart spot in my throat especially at night. I really don't know what to do or if can be any other reson besides the sjogren... It's realy act the same

It looks like you are asking about 3 things --
1) Joint pain in fingers & toes.
2) Dry mouth.
3) Dry eyes.

1) For joint pain, you probably need to see a Rheumatologist to get to the bottom of what that is about. I would guess it has to do with some autoimmune issue, since ulcerative colitis is considered autoimmune. The Dr treating you for the UC may have some ideas about the joint pain, or may have a rheumatologist to suggest.

2) Dry mouth (possible Sjogrens) - regardless of testing & diagnosis, the first plan of attack is usually to start using Biotene products, like someone else suggested. They have a mouthwash, toothpaste, gum...all products that help with mouth moisture. I would start by using the mouthwash - I find it very helpful. I would not plan on getting a lip biopsy - the results are often inconclusive and the treatment plan is usually the same with or without the biopsy.

3) Dry eyes (possible Sjogrens) - again, regardless of testing & diagnosis, the first plan of attack is the same. Start using "lubricating eye drops" -- NO preservatives, NO medications -- suggested products include Hypotears, Tears Natural II, and GenTeal Gel. Also turns out eating too much sugar can dry your eyes!

Also, since your throat dryness seems worse at night -- consider getting a humidifier for your bedroom. More moisture in the air often helps with nighttime mouth/nose/eye dryness.
