A year ago, my daughter had pain in her left knee. They x-rayed it and found nothing. Then it went to her right knee also. We got no help. In January, we went to the ER because she had this horrible pain in her left arm and I thought she was having a heart attack (she's only 20). Then the pain was in both elbows/arms and her fingers would tingle and be numb. The pain also came back in her knees. By February 13, she was completely unable to get out of bed because of the pain. I took her last Friday to get a manicure for a treat and sitting in a chair for 30 minutes was so painful, she got super sweaty and passed out. When she came to, she couldn't see and started throwing up. The nail salon called 911 and she was taken by ambulance to the ER.
We saw the rheumatologist yesterday and have a diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome. I'm frustrated because she's being treated for symptoms she doesn't have! She was given hydroxychoroquine to prevent further Sjogren's attacks on her organs and she was given prednisone.
What might help her find some pain relief??? Does anyone have any experience with this kind of debilitating pain and if so, what helped?
