Hi thre. I haven't posted in a while but wanted to just give an update on my BP Husband.
He's been out of the hospital for almost three weeks now and has only skipped ONE of his medication times since he got out. And the reason for that was we were going to a baseball game and he knew he'd have a couple of beers so he didn't want the alcohol to interfere with his meds.
He also went to his first therapy meeting last week (it was mostly intake information) and scheduled another session for next month with the pdoc. But when he noticed on Tuesday that he was running low on his meds (lithium), he contacted the doctor to get an appointment sooner so he wouldn't run out before then. He even said that he wants to make sure he has an extra month's supply of his meds so he never has to worry.
He even said today that he "owes an apology" to one of his friends because of his behavior while he was manic.
I am so happy that he has been taking his meds as prescribed and is coming to accept his condition. I know that there's a probability that he will become manic again, but at least I feel that he is beginning to take responsibility for his condition and is trying to manage it. That's all I ask of him and all I want from him.
Things have been very good and even though I know that this is a lifelong battle for us, I am hoping that he will continue what he's doing and let me be supportive of him.
Again, a HUGE thank you to everyone on here for all the kind words and thoughts over the past few months - you've been a gift from God!
Of course I'll keep checking in, writing and reading. Hopefully I can help someone as much as everyone has helped me.
Big hugs to everyone!
