Well well well all! It's been a while! I hope you're all well and not doing too badly! :-)

 

I haven't been on here for a while.  The truth is I was doing OK. I started a course of Lithium at the start of the year which has built up to 1000mg daily.

That seemed to do the trick for me and really evened me out.  Then all of a sudden I hit a bit of a brick wall.  I was left thinking surely this isn't the best i was ever going to feel?  I felt either really low or just flat.  It didn't help that I'd also got a new job which added to the stress.  The job also involved international travel - time zone changes etc.  That disrupts sleep and makes everything even worse!!!

Anyway, I finally picked up the courage to see the Psych Dr. again and he tried to put me on Zyprexia (5mg daily).  After 1 dose I knew it wasn't for me.  I was like a zombie!!!  I was honest and upfront with the Dr. and said I wasn't going to take it and would deal with things myself.   Things got easier at work and that made things a little better.  I still don't feel 100% but I feel a lot better than a few weeks ago!!

It would be good to hear from you all again!

Sorry to hear you've hit this wall...I am in the same boat.  Too much stress lately; it was inevitable-this crash.  I think I waill have to call my pdoc.  WOW these meds are getting expensive.  And WOW the thought of making changes.  The only thing I am willing to do is increase a dose or two.

It just makes me wonder, do all these meds just work temporarily?  Honestly, I was feeling great (stable!) for at least 2 months and that was the first time in years.  I thought it was going to last....

Good for you for seeing your pdoc.  Something to say about the Zyprexa-Years ago I gained 60 pounds from it.  I've only lost 20, and have been stuck there.  And I cannot tell you how much I have read about people experiencing the same thing.  I can't imagine your new job, my sleep is so awful.  I've applied to hospitals here where I am, but only to day shifts. 

Anyway, glad you blog, hope you are feeling better soon.

Hey Mogs! Thanks so much for your kind words! Thanks too for joining as a follower of my blog! I really appreciate it! Its good to know that I'm not the only one deliberating about the effect of meds! I guess that whatever meds we take they should be reviewed periodically?

You're right about going to the PDoc, it is hard to force yourself to go when you think you've been doing fine! Good on you applying for jobs! That's a positive step! Let me know how it goes?!

And thanks for the advice ill stay well clear of zyprexa!

Great to hear from both of you!!!! I'm so glad to hear that despite being kicked back down a bit you're hanging in there. I'm fighting through the med slush myself right now. It's just such a crazy free-for-all at times, doesn't it seem? Congrats on continuing on with the blog. That's a true accomplishment.

Hi Serafena! Thanks for your reply! Went to see my PDoc this morning and he discharged me so I don't need to go and see him now unless I need to ie. Unless I have a relapse! I'm off to Canada with work next week so the whole change in time zone will be hard!

You're right about it being a free fall with the meds at times! Sometimes I wonder if they're working! Then I think about how I was before I started taking the meds and I go...."Oh yeah, they're definitely working!" LOL!

I'm still doing my writing too and have sent some away to a publisher. Ill post some more on here too!

Hi Mackem,

I don't believe we have met formally.  I have seen your name around on the board and have checked out your blog a long time ago.  I placed it under my fav's right now and will check it out when I have more time.

I know about the bipolar resurfacing right when we think we have things uncontrol.  I'm glad that you are back on your meds.  My advise...keep taking them.  Even when you think you're doing fine...you'll do fine for a while and then it comes back to bite us in the butt to remind us that we really did a dumb thing.  lol

Welcome back.  I'll post again after I check your blog out! Thanks for sharing that with us.
