What a week

I'm so glad to see some of my old familiar friends on board again. Hi everyone.

I've had a truly craptastic week. Last Sunday my DH fell and fractured the inner bone of his elbow -- the capitellum. We spent 6 hours in the ER waiting for him to get a splint and a referral to a bone doc. So all week we've been dealing with that: suddenly he's incapacitated (but taking it really well -- he's been almost whine free and really brave). He can't drive. He can't cook (he was the primary cook around here. I hate to cook.) He had to have surgery on Thursday to put a screw in his elbow. Ouchie. I drove back and forth to the hospital 40 minutes away 3 times that day.

But that was okay. Stuff happens, right?

Then yesterday my daughter was being willful and he pulled on her arm to get her up from the ground (and he's only got one hand to pick her up with) and he accidentally gave her a nursemaid's elbow. Back to the ER with a hurty elbow. Gah! Luckily just taking the X-Ray popped things back to rights and as we were waiting for the doc to see us, she was using her arm and playing like nothing ever happened. So we left. -- which they don't recommend -- but even the nurse agreed that it was back in place and kiddo seemed fine.

But my DH sulked for the rest of the evening -- he felt awful. I just teased him that next weekend it's my turn to hurt my elbow. I truly hope not because we're taking a trip to St. Louis for Rosh Hashana.

My daughter turned 4 in July. this is the 2nd time it's happened to her. Wobbly elbows I guess. She's doing fine, of course. I agree that 3s are hard. She's still hard at times... She's so willful! Everything has to be her way. Good lord. But she's really smart and funny too. Today she had to wear a scarf because mommy was wearing one. She chose this very grownup scarf from my (extensive) stash and wore it long, just like me, with her teeshirt and shorts.

Wow serafena. That is an eventful week. I hate having to go to urgent care,and have those long waits. I hope everyone heals up well and this week is a little calmer for you all!

For me, the older my two boys got, the easier it was for me.
It just keeps getting better. I'm jealous you have a cook!

Things are calming down, finally. My hubby drove last night for the first time since Labor Day. I'm looking forward to having him drive again. The logistics of me driving him to work everyday and to doc appts, etc, while working myself, were really difficult. His arm is healing and he's terrible about taking off his half-cast!

Sukay, you are so right, my daughter is absolutely a little trooper. Have a peaceful weekend yourself.
