I've been off lamictal for 48 hours and I feel 95% back to normal. Stable. Not depressed, not manic. Hubby went with me to the pdoc this morning and they both agreed I am never to take that med again, or anything in that class of drugs. In 12 years, she has never had a patient have that severe of a reaction. I'm glad I didn't go inpatient because I'd feel kinda silly now. I'm fine now. I'm seeing my therapist in a couple hours and see what her thoughts are regarding my new treatment plan.
Here's what me and hubby decided with pdoc: stay on 100mg zoloft and not add anything. If I start showing signs of mania, hubby is to call her immediately and I can do short-term meds to get through it. She mentioned geodon. The down side: if I'm manic, I may refuse meds. I guess we'll see how it goes. She wants to see me back in 2 weeks, and continue seeing therapist.
The main reason we're going med-free (partially) is because of my history of med reactions. I'm allergic to allergy meds (zyrtec and clarinex-gives me rashes). Erythromyacin (antibiotic) makes me vomit. I hyper-reacted to aldara (basal cell cancer cream) and all my skin on my forehead peeled off and I ended up in the ER. Lamictal made me suicidal. So yeah, not a great track record.
