Hi Ellen,
It sounds a lot like stress from anxiety. Doing stretches, deep breathing, and keeping yourself busy helped me a lot to get my mind of the stress. Staying busy is key, it keeps your mind off the matter at hand and allows your mind to concentrate elsewhere. My wife's doctor told her as well to keep herself busy and it will help with the stress (she is bipolar II).
A question for you Ellen:
As i mentioned above, my wife is Bipolar II as I noticed in your signature you are as well. I see you take trileptal, her DR is thinking about putting her on that. Could you give me any feedback as to how that has worked for you? Thank you so much.
