Has anybody read any good books about
the topic? I'd like to find one that is more like a memoir, and one that has reliabel CURRENT information on the disorder.
Any suggestions?

Hey Tainted,
There's a list of books in the Bipolar Disorder Resources thread. Terry Cheney's MANIC isn't in there, but it's supposed to be good. Also, if you've read any that aren't there that you'd like to add, just let me know.

"The Bipolar Advantage" by Tom Wootton
This book is the first one that I haven't found to be depressing. A good mix of his personal stories and good information.

Thanks guys! I'll check those out. I think I saw a few of them at the used book store, but I ended up spending 25 dollars on a used text book instead. It's called "The Physicians Guide to Depression & Bipolar Disorder" published in 2006. It's thick, lots of medical language, but the info should be reliable and it deals specifically with how a primary care physician should go at the bipolar problem vs how a psychiatrist would do it. Since I can't afford a pdoc, it's been very insightful.
If anyone thinks of any others, I'd love to know. Specifically I'd love to read a good biography or preferable an autobiography of a good musician or two that has struggled with the disorder.
Thanks!
Tainted
