What's the longest anyone here has been in remission or mostly symptom free?

One month but I had to work at it every minute of every day. It was hard. That was off medication.
I'm going on 2 days right now, with medication :P

well done for three months voix...I know you were having trouble with the seroquel- do you think that's what fixed the symptoms?
Carenpolar That is awesome!!!! Is that with meds and doing all the right things (sleep, no booze etc)? Have you made it to one year because this is the first time you've stuck with the meds or is it something else?
Tortoise - if this is the first 2 symptom free days in a while it looks like the meds are working! well done......why did you choose to go off meds in the first place?
I hope none of you find these questions too intrusive. As you might know (I've posted a few things) I was diagnosed with BP II early July...was obviously having a few problems for a while before then. My psychiatrist and I have been having real trouble finding meds where the side effects don't affect me too strongly......I'm now trying to educate myself about
this illness as much as possible and just want to know what works for people and how long they feel well for....... I've read about
people not having episodes for up to 15+ years....I'm also aware they're the minority and they weren't always completely symptom free the whole time.
Thanks for replying to my post!

6 weeks maybe...it's hard to remember...but I think I was stable
last spring or was it early summer...no I was depressed in early
summer...oh well guess I need to keep a mood chart!
My meds seem to work for about
6 months and then they stop
working and I go into a depression...but I wouldn't say I was stable
during the whole 6 months either...just better.
My hypo-mania never lasts as long as the ensuing depression.
After 6 months or so I have to start over with a new med.
I also quit drinking alcohol which has helped tremendously.

I went off meds to see if I could stay well a for conception and pregnancy. My fiance is a medical professional and REFUSES to consider pregnancy + my meds, even though they are considered relatively safe.
I learned that I *could* but it would be very difficult.
