I have been trying to get back on meds for add but doctor so focused on my new diagnosed bi-polar, any advise on how to convince him?  I just remember how good I felt and focused when on Add meds..

Hi LJB,

and welcome to the site. Your doc should listen to YOU. It's great that he/she wants to help your BPD but if you feel you're also ADD and the previous meds worked then he should try to accomodate you.

I too have an issue with ADD, also Tourette's and am Bipolar. These all work together in conspiracy to thwart our every attempt at remembering what day it is, where the car keys are, is the cereal in the freezer again...?

Seriously, try to emphazize to your doc how much better you felt before. If you have someone you trust and knows your issues, it may help to have them accompany you to your next appointment. Third party observation and confirmation can go a long way.

 Yep, i got it also. Its a come and go type of thing. SOmetimes its alot worse than others.

  But it is allways better in the summer. Maybe since i am on the biccyle so much, i burn it out of me.

Thanks Brian appreciate advise, nfortunatly do not think have someone to go with me. But will try to really emphasize how good I was doing. Crohns, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, bi-polar, severe scoliosis, ptsd

I also have problems with concentration. I have never been officially diagnosed with ADD, but my therapist and I agree that I definitely need to be. My best advice is be honest with your pdoc. Maybe there is a reason why s/he isn't putting you on ADD meds. Discuss this with him/her and stress that your inability to concentrate is very frustrating to you. Also mention that your previous ADD meds seemed to help you focus. Your pdoc will listen to what you have to say, but if they are not willing to work with you on that, then it might be for a good reason. But s/he will probably explain why (if there is any reason) that s/he refuses to prescribe ADD meds for you again.
