I have been on therapy for the last 7 months but I did not have any progress. I think is the the type of therapy I am into (talk therapy).
Could members give your insights about
the best therapy options for the bipolar disorder?

I don't know I have been in this talk therapy with mine for some time now and really doesn't seem to make me feel any better. All we seem to talk about
is how the meds are working and different bipolar things I have done. Personally to me I don't think it is helping me at all. I am with you and wonder if there is some other therapy that would work with being bipolar.

I have a number of big psychological issues not at related to bipolar, so I have done lots of therapy, of several different kinds. None has really helped my bipolar at all. But it all helped my psychological problems greatly. I have always been under the impression that bipolar is more of a chemical problem than a psychological one. I am puzzled as to how treatment designed for psychological problems could help a chemical problem. Maybe I just don't understand things, though.

Talk therapy isn't a cure all for everything. In my case I completely
opened up, everything went on the table. I feel like you only get out of it as much as you put into it.

My therapy helps me with issues I have and have had with my extremely dysfunctional family. We rarely discuss my having bipolar; my psychiatrist is the one who focuses on that and medicates me.
I am finding the talk therapy very helpful for my relationship issues because that's a large part of my problems alone, bipolar or not.
In my experience, I have to agree with Hopeful One; it does seem to me that the bipolar is more of a chemical problem whereas the therapy addresses the psychological ones.

I've done talk therapy on and off pretty much my whole life and it didn't do jack.... however, this year I started what is called EMDR... (here is a link which explains it) http://www.emdr-therapy.com/ and it has worked really well for me in resolving "specific" PTSD thought processes which lend to my panic and feelings of worthlessness.
It worked great for me.... I need to go back for more, but it's not cheap and my insurance doesn't cover but 50% of usual and customary.
