new member - feeling depressed

Hi I have been diagnosed with Bipolar I for a little over 10 years now. I am currently suffering from a very deep depression. I have not been this depressed in 20 years. I feel so hopeless. I am currently taking Depakote 1000 mg, Prozac 80 mg, Klonopin .5 mg prn anxiety. My Pdoc just added Lamictal to my meds. I am really hoping that this will ease my depression. I am not used to being depressed and this is really so difficult for me. I have no hope and feel anxious most of the day. Oh yes and I am also on Ritalin 20 mg twice per day. I am hoping to make some friends here and get some encouragement that my depression will get better. Thank you.

Hi Hospicecaregiver and welcome to the forum.  As IG has said I hope you find support and friendship here as I did several months ago.

I do feel for you going through this deep depression as I have just come out of one only recently.  I needed to be hospitalized as I had accompanying psychotic sympmtoms.  Pdoc thinks I have BP2 but is not ruling out BPI.  Whatever the diagnosis it is how I feel and how it affects my life is more important to me.

As a recovering alcoholic I don't touch alcohol a day a at a time but I am now trying to cut out cafffeine drinks (struggle with chocalate though) but I am making a little progress I feel.

Above all I want to offer you hope - your severe depression as has mine will lift in time.  This pain too shall pass.  In the meantime, keep yourself safe, I would keep sharing on this forum coz the people here are knowledgeable and really do care.

I too am a newby. I just sat here and wrote about half a page to you, hit a wrong button, and shazaam............it was gone....lol's. Don't that make you mad as ?

I too suffer from major depression, panic, anxiety, mixed connective tissue disease, essential tremor, migraines, hypothyroidism, hypertension, GERD, chronic bronchitis brought on by anxiety, the latest anemia and dehydration. I may have forgot something.

It is a hard illness, it is like a rollercoaster. I try not to be that way, but I guess we have to have the correct mixture upstairs. We will get it one day, but I have all these other things trying to drag me down.

I think writing to someone is good therapy, I am glad I found this site. I have a lot to offer and a lot to cry about. We can get together and have big cries and lots of laughter, how is that for starters??
