Bipolar wife wants divorce/separation. Refuses to admit bipolar may be a factor.

I am sorry if anyone found my post to be offensive. I was just trying to tell the whole story and see what people think. I thought that her actions were a major part of the story. Previous to a couple months ago I had no experience with Bipolar and my knowledge is still very limited. What I'm really trying to figure out is if her feelings toward me are part of her condition or if they are real. I have started seeing a psychiatrist as of yesterday. My wife is going to one in a couple of weeks who specializes in bipolar.

Tuesday she went to the pharmacologist. When I asked how it went all she said was OK. Then I saw that she had posted on the calendar in our kitchen that she was going back next week. I asked her why and she said I'm being brought back up to 200mg of Lamictal. She claimed she told me, not true because we only talked about her appointment via text. She told her mother that she was being brought back up because of everything that is going on with us. I don't know if that is true or if the pharmacologist saw something that warranted the change.

Its tough to remain calm. I started my own treatment yesterday and go back next week I'm sure that will help.

fustrated dad- I read your story and almost burst into tears- i came to the site like you looking for help with my boyfriend of 4 years- after a awful car wreck he has tbi- the bipolar like symptoms have become overwhelming- i clicked on your story because it caught my eye and the reason i was so moved because about a yr ago i was exactly like your wife- my mother is bipolar & im bipolar 2 (manic depression) a hyper cycle like your wife- thank my lucky stars i no longer "suffer" the effects of it.. im rather upset the board people or adm. wanted to take the thread down because i honestly feel like if i had read your story back when it would have lead to some insight to what my poor boyfriend was going thru with me. She (I) was/is so concentrating on what were going thru or oks & unhappy (rapid cycle) we dont see what we have caused others around us- its feels so darn real to us (the unhappy) and we are deeply afraid to have to live like that for the rest of our lives- so we/I would do drastic things like- find comfort in other people- have the im leaving talk ...again- hop from hobby/intr.. try to move- sell a house- switch a car w.e. But the truest thing a dr ever told me was that all thoose thing were temp shocks to the happy- as soon as the "new" wore off on it -id move to the next thing & next thing- destroying the people and their patiences around me. I had to learn to seek the right kind of help & treatment- that i would never truely be happy until i became happy with myself - and it doesnt happen over night- little things every day- little battles... hope i could help at all

I think you got it, IG. There's not a problem with a non-bipolar person coming to get help for a bipolar friend/family member. It's the ranting, venting, complaining about bipolar symptoms posts that have to stop.
